R Pooley, J Hewitt, J Sexton and M Colcombe led 15-3 at 10 ends and never eased to win 24-11. D Seabourne, D Richards, M Cook and K Dunn were always in front to win 17-12. J Ellis, B Warnes, D Mann and A Calver had a much closer game to win 16-14.

The B team lost their unbeaten record at Gorleston, losing 46-62 (1-4).

L Gutteridge, N Green, E Bulley and G Logan were 3-12 down at 10 ends but a six on the 13th end saw them home 20-19. M Dixon, B Drake and J Glendenning playing a man short lost 10-19. L Moore, D Webster, J Moore and R Albone were in front but then dropped 15 shots to lose 16-24.

The C team game was cancelled.

In the Lovewell Blake Malta Cup the As went to Freethorpe A and came home with a good result 80-58 (6-1).

T McNulty, J Secton and M Cook led the way with a good win 26-10. J Ellis, B Warnes and D Mann also played well to win 24-10. D Seabourne, R Pooley and A Calver scored a six on the ninth end to win 20-16. K Dunn, P Barber and J Hewitt dropped shots early on and lost 10-22.

The B team were at home to Acle B and lost a close game 67-74 (1-6).

M Dixon, B Drake and J Glendenning won 17-13. L Gutteridge, N Green and R Albone lost 15-17. J Wiseman, E Bulley and W Moss lost 20-22 and L Moore, G Logan and J Moore lost 15-22.

The C team put up a very good performance against Browston A before losing 48-68 (1.5-5.5).

T Westgate, S Wheeler and A Smit had a good win 16-15. D Hatchett, J Elliott and C Warnes drew 15-15. J Palmer, M Yarrow and P Ladmore lost 11-17. D Kingston, C Last and A Huggins never got going and lost 6-21.

The ladies were at home to Ormesby ladies and lost 42-53 (1.5-5.5).

J Wheeler, G Swanston and C King scored a five on the 13th end to win 18-16. S Allen, C Johnson and J Howlett drew 16-16.L Westgate, J Warnes and B Payne lost 8-21.

In the county competitions the ladies were at home to Holt ladies in the Top Ten competition and won on the extra end 72-71.

In the singles J Howlett won 21-7. The pairs P Ellis and C King lost 7-24. In the triples M Oran, G Swanston and B Wright lost 14-24. In the fours S Allen, L Westgate, J Warnes and B Payne won 30-16.

In the ladies county pairs J Burrage and B Payne won 20-17. In the unbadged pairs J Saunders and S Allen had a good result winning 20-11.

In the men's county fours R Pooley, J Sexton, T McNulty and D Mann lost 12-33.

To celebrate the club's 75th anniversary the national president, Dennis Cousins brought his Bowls England team to play against Great Yarmouth in a friendly match which resulted in a win for Bowls England 141-111.

T Westgate, J Disspain, R Albone and B Warnes won 21-16. J Ellis, P Ladmore, D Richards and M Colcombe won 21-19. M Dixon, M Yarrow, M Cook and D Mann won 20-18. H Plane, R Pooley, J Moore and A Calver lost 21-29. D Webster, D Saunders, F Elliott and K Dunn lost 18-27. L Gutteridge, D Bowers, B Drake and T Hatchett lost 10-33.

After a meal at the Hazehurst Hotel the Great Yarmouth president Brian Warnes said it was a privilege to entertain Bowls England whose players had travelled from 11 counties to play.

The Bowls England president said he was very pleased to bring his team to Great Yarmouth for their anniversary and wished the club all the success in the future.

Great Yarmouth & District League

In Division One, Martham A remain the only team to retain a one hundred per cent record, with four wins out of four. Their latest was by 86 shots to 64, over Potter, a 5-2 points win.

Burlingham A have been faring better away from home with another win, this time at Rollesby 6-1 in points, 84-66 in shots. But they lost a close home match with Woodbastwick by 74-77, a mere three shots, but the points difference was 5-2 for the visitors.

Gorleston Conservatives also did well at Top Green, a relatively close 74-68 shot game translating into victory by 5� points to 1�.

Acle picked up two very good results at home, 6-1 and 83-65 over Runham and a 7-0 whitewash over the Conservatives helping their points tally.

The jungle drums declare Runham had a 6-1 win at Woodbastwick, but there is no official confirmation yet.

In Division Two, Repps had a good 7-0 result at Caister C by 85-60 in shots, but found things different at Winterton where the 7-0 scoreline went the other way, the home team beating them by 107 to 49.

Ormesby, showing very good form, recorded another win at home to Ludham and they are 100 per centers with three wins out of three.

It was a mixed week for Hickling. At home to Repps they finished on 68 shots each but were pipped by four points to three.

They followed this with another draw at home to Martham B, 82 shots each this time with the seven points shared equally between them. However they moved up a gear when Filby B came visiting and claimed welcome points with a 6-1 (99 shots to 65) victory.

The next round of the Donny Pearce Cup will be Northgate v Rollesby; Caister B v Runham; Potter v Martham A; and Top Green v Acle.

Martham Bowls Club

The men's EBA team went to Bradwell and a close game was had, one block won and two lost. Overall score 58-51 earned just one point.

In the Malta League Bradwell Came to Martham A. Two rinks were close throughout and won by two shots and four shots. The other two rinks were won by 12 shots and 14 shots to gain all seven points.

In the Ladies League, Martham were at home to Filby, lost on one rink, drew on the second rink and won on the third rink 20-10. Result: a 55-50 win (4�-1�) winning block Elaine Donovan, Monica Fisher and Jane Watson.

Martham Bowls Club offers free coaching for beginners on Saturday mornings from 9.30 to 11am for adults and juniors. Bowls are provided but flat-soled shoes must be worn.

Rollesby Bowls Club

Rollesby enjoyed home advantage in the D Pearce Cup against Martham B and despite losing on two rinks 13-25 and 18-20 and winning by the smallest margin on another 18-17 the evening was won by the block of S Daniels, T Coots and J Catchpole who stormed to a great 26-7 victory and saw Rollesby into the next round with an overall 75-69 win.

At home in the Yarmouth League to Burlingham, Rollesby struggled to find any real form.

Although leading after 10 ends 42-28, fortunes reversed in the latter stages and Rollesby crashed to a 66-84 defeat with only the block of J Avery, T Wright and T Avery winning well 27-11. Points 1-6.

Finally, away to Salhouse Bell in the Broadland KO Cup, Rollesby kept in the game at the halfway stage at 36-45, but home advantage for Salhouse began to tell and they ran out comfortable winners 63-81.
