Fun day at racecourse

MUMS, dads and children arrived in big numbers for Great Yarmouth Racecourse's annual family fun day over the August Bank Holiday weekend.The first 1,000 children each received a free goody bag - and there were many family entertainments including face painting, children's rides, bouncy castle, donkey rides, children's entertainer, competitions with prizes and an adventure playground.

The first 1,000 children each received a free goody bag - and there were many family entertainments including face painting, children's rides, bouncy castle, donkey rides, children's entertainer, competitions with prizes and an adventure playground.

On the racetrack, the opening EBF and Eastern Daily Press Maiden Fillies' Stakes went the way of the 11-10 favourite Finoon, from the powerful Godolphin stables of Saeed bin Suroor.

The first division of the Avenue Pub Handicap was won by 15-2 shot Tilsworth Glenboy; the second division was claimed by Exopuntia at 7-1. Jockey Ted Durcan, who had partnered the first winner of the afternoon, completed a double when Rosedale (8-1) took the Norwich Evening News Handicap.

The 11-4 joint market leader Wreningham was first in the Great Yarmouth Mercury Handicap, while rider Kirsty Milczarek drove home

4-1 chance Librettista in the East Coast Truckers Charity Convoy Handicap. Avenue Pub and Restaurant Handicap went to Fuzzypeg under jockey William Buick at 4-1, and the closing Coastal Life Magazine Apprentice Handicap was won by Ptolomeos (8-1) and apprentice rider Lucy Barry.
