GREAT Yarmouth Racecourse's busy July racing programme rounded off yesterday (Monday) afternoon - and now August's equally hectic schedule is coming up.

The Norfolk track is never busier than at the height of the summer season on the east coast, and there were plenty of holidaymakers vying with the bookmakers for financial supremacy during the fifth and final fixture of the month.

The 4-1 shot Right Rave took the opening East Coast Truckers Fillies' Maiden Auction Stakes under jockey Catherine Gannon, while the Hips at ecea.co.uk Selling Stakes went to the 16-1 chance Arken Lad under jockey Jimmy Quinn.

Trainer Tom Dascombe, who could soon be Manchester United forward Michael Owen's salaried trainer at his Cheshire stables, sent out Janeiro (11-2) to take the Time & Tide Museum Maiden Auction Stakes.

Newmarket trainer Chris Wall's good record at the track continued when Sundae (13-2) won the Shirley Gill Memorial Handicap. The 4-1 co-favourite Dukes Art had earlier taken first place in the Martin Foulger Memorial Handicap.

Baan (11-1) gave rider Jimmy Quinn a double for the afternoon when going on to victory in the two-mile Firstbet.com 0800 230 0800 50 Matched Bet Handicap.

The concluding Norfolk and Suffolk Animal Trust Lady Riders' Handicap was won by Barataria at 10-1.

The next racing at Great Yarmouth is the second Rhythm 'N' Rock Night on Wednesday 5 August when tribute band Ultimate Madness are in concert after racing.
