On Saturday several athletes from the Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club competed in a Sportshall Athletics meeting at Taverham sports centre. These are athletic competitions designed especially for sports halls, using specially-designed equipment for competing indoors. This was an open meeting with nearly 200 athletes taking part. They had to compete in a triathlon where they choose a throw, a run and a jump.

In the girls under-11s Amy Dowsett won the silver for second place overall. Evie Read finished second in two events but was just unable to get in the top three overall and Erin Erwin put in some good performances to finish just behind Evie.

In the boys' section Niall Simmonds won his speed bounce and was second in the seated ball throw to finish overall in second place.

Under-13 Kane Simmonds really had a good day, winning the event overall to take the gold with first place in the seated ball throw, second place in the speed bounce and third place in the final of the two-lap race.

In the under-15s, Mark Phillipson added another gold to the collection, and in the girls' under-15 section Catherine Lee won the silver medal.

These were very good performances by the Yarmouth athletes in a very competitive event.
