Great Yarmouth and Caister, Norfolk's oldest golf club and one of the finest links courses in the country, saw in its new captain at the recent annual meeting.

This was followed by the official captain's drive in and presentation of the 2009 champions' and competition winners' trophies.

Tim Starbuck paid tribute to outgoing captain Mike Devlin, thanking him for his outstanding contribution to the continued success of the club.

“Mike has worked tirelessly and achieved some notable milestones for Caister golf club.”

In 2009 the club achieved the coveted Golf Mark for its efforts of introducing juniors into the world of golf. “Caister is one of the oldest clubs in England and will continue to respect the great traditions of golf whilst being at the cutting edge of golf club practices and innovation.”

Caister welcomes golfing visitors and is attracting new members. As first choice for winter golf the club will be looking to build on the friendly welcome and the guaranteed quality of the golf course.

“In 2010 our goal is to make Great Yarmouth and Caister the first choice for Golf. Our club is already proving popular with visiting golfers and our 'golf and grub' packages are in great demand.”
