THE first silverware of the season was decided this week as Newtown Golfers confirmed the second division title after they beat nearest challengers Nothing Special 6-0 on the Beaco. The win sees their record as 11 wins from 11 games.

The first division saw a further twist in the title race which looks like going to the wire as the four challengers squared off. Morning leaders Camden Tavern went down 3-2 to Norton. Camden slip to second, overtaken by Archers who secured a 3-2 win over El Sol courtesy of a 90th-minute Paul Harriman strike.

Archers sit top on 23 points from 11 games, while Camden and Norton both have 20 from 10. EL Sol have 16 points from just eight games.

Elsewhere in the division a sorry Gorleston Albion crashed to an 11-0 reverse against Lacon Arms while at Hemsby there was a high-scoring draw as Hemsby SSC and Sunningdale Boys drew 4-4.

The third division saw limited games but tight affairs. Hemsby FC lost 3-2 against Greengate, a dent for their promotion hopes. Crown Stores also won 3-2 against Rampart Signs whilst Cantley Rovers secured a 2-0 win at Venture Albion.
