MARTHAM were away to Old Catton A on one of the better days of the summer, but the sun did not shine on the Old Catton batting.

On his way to 8-13, Greg Evans quickly sent back three batsmen without reply after three overs.

Johnny Allen (1-12 off 12 overs) at the other end, restricted their scoring options with pace and bounce, but was unlucky only to have one wicket at the end.

At 18-8 it looked like an early finish to the Norfolk League Division Seven match, but T Burke had other ideas with some lucky strokes, eventually finishing with 26. With the help of D Spinks Old Catton managed a total of 53 on quite a bouncy track, although the unevenness was to prove more of a problem, as D Spinks was hit on the head by a

J Allen delivery.

Evans finished with best ever figures of 8-13 from 12 overs, bettering his seven-wicket haul earlier in the season.

The Martham reply started almost as the Old Catton one did, but with a few more runs on the board.

Paul Punchard (2) trying to avoiding a climbing delivery off Young, was caught fending it away from his face.

Top-order resistance from Louis Dunn (12) brought the score to 25-6. With still quite a lot to do, and Young still getting the odd sharp bounce, old-timer Mark Randell (15 not out) was helped to the target by Greg Evans (11 not out) in 19.2 overs.
