ANOTHER good night of amateur boxing saw 11 excellent bouts all go the full distance, which included three Eastern Counties finals.

A well-supported Kingfisher ABC evening at the Ocean Room, Gorleston, was supported by MP Tony Wright and his wife Barbara and the Mayor and the Lady Mayoress, Paul and Lisa Garrod, as special guests of the club.

In the Eastern Counties finals Joe Burnett, of Kingfishers, out-pointed Pender Smith, of New Ashley, in a very hard, close bout.

Both appeared to be looking for a quick win, landing hard punches to the head and body.

Most of the bout was at close quarters with Burnett the stronger of the two. He was never ready to back off or consider giving ground.

A good win by all three judges. This bout was also awarded with bout of the night.

Two other bouts in the Eastern Counties were Joley Taylor and Majid Romain with Taylor winning on points, and Joe Payne and Jamie Homer with Payne winning on points.

Arty Draper, of Kingfisher ABC, won on points over Connor Basham of Norwich Diamonds.

This was a very good win for Draper, boxing well behind good left jabs and looking to land straight rights and hooks.

Basham was always in the fight but Draper had the edge throughout, landing clean punches.

Caine Brunnings, of Kingfisher ABC, boxing southpaw, won on points over Carl Tansley of Ferry Street.

It was a good bout with Tansley liking to stand off and counter-punch with some success.

However, Brunnings did more work and was stepping in with right jabs and straight left-right hooks which Tansley had no answer too. Brunnings deserved his clean win.

Nathan Smith of Kingfisher ABC in the first of the senior contests looked good when winning on points over Steve Kirby of Gold Star.

The first two rounds were very close, both scoring with good punches.

Midway through the last round Smith landed a solid right to Kirby and he had to take an eight count, and from then on Smith kept up the pressure and was a good winner.

George Parsons of Kingfisher ABC won on points over Jack Fraser of Handenham.

Parsons boxed well getting home with good two, three and four combinations of two-handed punches.

Fraser took them well and landed good punches of his own.

Parsons was the cleaner puncher and worked non-stop. His win was on all three judges' cards.

Ben Savva, of Kingfisher ABC, had a clear points win when out-pointing Tony Allen, of Norwich Diamonds.

Savva was at his best boxing with long left jabs, good combinations and good footwork.

He never let his opponent settle into any boxing but kept up the pressure.

Other Bouts saw Henry Potter of Kingfishers lose on points to Charlie Kenny of Tottenham and Enfield.

In a hard, non-stop bout. Both

boys, having their debut bout, gave their all.

Punching to the last bell, Kenny, that little bit stronger had the edge and was a good winner. Henry did himself and the club proud.

Stevie Middleton of Kingfishers lost a close bout to Ben Grim, of Tottenham and Enfield. There was very little between the boxers with Grim liking to come forward throwing punches and at times trading punches. It was close to the last bell.

Jordon King, of Kingfishers, boxed well when losing a close bout to Steve Panks of Tottenham and Enfield.

This was a very close bout. Throughout the three rounds both boys scored with clean punches.

King looked to have the better of the last round but lost on a majority decision.

A great night once again at the Ocean Rooms. Many thanks for the continued support of Kingfisher ABC.

There are some carded boxers at Kingfisher ABC who require sponsorship for the new season.
