Stewart Larter is still waiting for his first win since taking over as Gorleston manager after another hugely frustrating game at Walmer Road on Tuesday evening.
For the second midweek running Gorleston let a 2-0 lead slip as they slumped to their fifth defeat in a row and were dumped out of the Thurlow Nunn League Cup.
The night had started brightly for the Greens with a goal from Joel Watts giving them a half-time lead. Watts then doubled his side’s lead early in the second half.
However, ten minutes later Kirkley pulled a goal back through Kyle Baker and then Miguel Lopez drew them level five minutes after that. The comeback was completed late on when Baker added his second.
Gorleston Reserves moved into the semi-final of the Cyril Ballyn Cup with a hard fought 2-0 victory at Buxton. Jay Turner scored the first after half an hour with Dino Tabakovic adding the second,10 minutes into the second half.
