A LAST-MINUTE strike by Regan Harman earned Gorleston a 2-1 win at Fakenham Tuesday night.

The Greens took the lead through Steve Taylor on 34 minutes but the Ghosts equalised with a Karl Pask header on 54 minutes (report page 3).

Tomorrow, Gorleston entertain March, kick-off 3pm.

Stowmarket 3, Gorleston 2

Gorleston had their hopes of a win dashed in the last five minutes. The Greens were 2-1 ahead and apparently in control but Stowmarket fought back to snatch the points.

This was Gorleston's first defeat in the league since the beginning of the year, writes Mick Heard.

Pete Lambert returned to the Gorleston attack alongside Lee Hunter after missing the midweek victory at Thetford through his university commitments. Their substitutes were of high quality Gary Ingram, Kyle Howell, Ricci Butler, Ben Manning and Harry Maddison.

The pitch was sticky and for much of the first period it was a case of nip and tuck with few chances being created.

Gorleston came close when Lee Hunter lifted the ball over the Stowmarket keeper only for it to bounce and strike the apex of bar and post and fall to safety.

Just before half-time Stowmarket took the lead when they curled in a free-kick. Keeper Tom Marsden fell awkwardly and was substituted by Gary Ingram for the second half.

Gorleston responded very well in the second period and generally had the better of the play. They equalised when Steve Taylor broke through and released Lee Hunter to score his 21st league goal of the season and his 26th in all competitions.

Gorleston took the lead through Harry Maddison who had come off the bench. He broke through on the left and scored despite appeals for offside.

Gorleston struck the woodwork twice through Steve Taylor and Leon Harewood.

Stowmarket are renowned for their ability to score from dead-ball situations and their equaliser came when a long throw into the area was converted. Their striker Steve Cracknell is always a threat with his height and strength and in the last minute Gorleston conceded a free-kick near their right corner flag when there was no apparent danger. The delivery was put away for the winning goal.
