Gorleston made it four unbeaten in all competitions and two clean sheets in a row with this hard-fought win.

Stewart Larter made just the one change from the win over Great Yarmouth. With George Parkin on holiday there was a surprise in goal with the return of Jack Whatmough.

After just 20 seconds visiting player Perry Moody went down in obvious agony after seemingly getting hiss studs caught in the turf as he turned. He had to be stretchered off and was taken to hospital with a possible cruciate injury.

With the wind behind them, the Greens dominated most of the early possession.

An excellent Joel Watts cross saw Mitch McKay head wide before Whatmough was called on to produce his only save of the game when Prince Mutswunguma seemed to miss hit his shot into the ground, forcing Whatmough to palm the ball over.

Gorleston took the lead in the 41st minute. The high press saw Ross Gilfedder get the better of a defender and he rounded the keeper and knocked the ball goalwards, behind the covering defender and into the far side of the net.

Both sides made a sloppy start to the second half and the scrappy match wasn’t being helped by the strong wind. The Greens were forced into a change on 68 minutes when Angus Mackie received a whack in the head from the accidental high boot of Ryan Yallop and became the second player to head off to the James Paget Hospital with a nasty gash.

Luke Goreham, playing game number 275 for Gorleston, slotted in at left back. Gilfedder had Gorleston’s first shot on target, other than the goal, in the 73rd minute but it was straightforward for the Haverhill keeper.

Ryan Fuller replaced Gilfedder and wasted no time getting involved. He played Ingram through, one on one, but the keeper was off his line quickly to get his foot to the ball and save.

As the game entered the final minute, one of the best bits of football of the match, saw Watts pick out Jordan Cantwell’s run into the box. Cantwell laid the ball back perfectly into the path of Fuller who made no mistake with the finish to secure the points.

Match sponsors Tecflo awarded the Batemans man of the match to captain Aarron Taylor.
