Managerless Gorleston completed the double over their east coast rivals despite having skipper Harley Clements sent off late on.

Caretaker managers Scott Butler and Gary Ingram made three changes to the side with no place for Daniel Foreman while Isaac Burrage and Joel Watts dropped to the bench. In came Clements, Mitch McKay and Jason Thompson.

The Greens fell behind after 15 minutes when confusion between defender and goalkeeper allowed Miguel Lopez to nip in to poke the ball home. Kyle Ingram hit a couple of long range efforts narrowly wide before Gorleston equalised in the last minute of the half.

A short corner was played to Kyle Ingram who crossed to the back post where Thompson nodded the ball back across goal to Connor Ingram who turned and drilled it into the net.

The second half continued in much the same way as the first with the only item of note being Clements picking up a yellow card.

But it was the Greens who finally got their noses in front in the 64th minute. Ingram swung over a deep free-kick and Connor Deeks arrived at the back post to volley home from an acute angle.

The lead lasted barely three minutes as Kyle Haylock latched on to a through ball and looped his header over Taurean Molloy.

With 77 minutes on the clock the game suddenly erupted. Kyle Ingram was sent sprawling by a poor challenge but no free-kick was given and Kirkley broke forward, with Deeks then punished for dragging down the attacker. Clements took out his frustration at the lack of an earlier free-kick by lashing the ball away and the referee produced a second yellow card.

Gorleston regrouped and with five minutes remaining they got their noses back in front. A cross from the left saw Connor Ingram challenge for the header, the ball bounced off a defender back to him and he gleefully blasted it home. The Greens had keeper Molloy to thank for completing the win when he made a superb late block to deny Jack Herbert.

Match sponsors Ann and Mick Santon awarded the Bateman’s man-of-the-match to Connor Ingram.
