Gorleston Parkrun bucket collection a big success

Of the 342 participants in the latest Gorleston Parkrun, 32 were first timers with 43 personal best times recorded.

A special mention goes to Eilish Brogan and Bernadette Haddock who both reached the 50th run milestone.

Mark Watling and first timer Chad Bilyardo ran the 5k dressed as Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble to raise money for Arthritis Research. Parkrun regular Lorrain Dawson recently lost her father and wanted to raise some money in his memory. A total of £203 was raised using a collection bucket which was then matched by Pandora Buck of the Active Clinic, taking the total to an impressive £406. Colleen Nicole Mukuya broke the ladies’ course record which has stood since 2009. Her time of 17.42 knocked eight seconds off the previous bestd. Holly Bunn was second female in 21.18.

Running his 150th parkrun and first to cross the line was Lawrence Wade in 17.11.
