Gorleston let a two goal lead slip as a late double from the hosts stretched their winless run to six games - but the defeat was not without an element of misfortune.

In an open first half, Gorleston looked more organised than they had done in recent matches, with new manager Stewart Larter beginning to instil his ways into the team, and it was the Greens who drew first blood.

Joel Watts cut in from the left and fired towards the far corner but keeper Will Viner diverted the ball around the post with his foot. However, from the resulting corner, Connor Ingram played the ball in and it was met by Mitch McKay’s head for the opener.

Gorleston should have increased their lead midway through the half. Kyle Ingram twisted and turned through the Wroxham defence and was brought down just inside the box and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Connor Ingram stepped up to take it but Viner guessed the right way and was able to make the save.

Molloy made his first save of the match in the 34th minute shortly before Gorleston doubled their lead. After being fouled just outside the box Connor Ingram took the free-kick himself and curled the ball around the wall and in off the post.

Gorleston seemed content in the second half to sit back and try to defend their lead but it became 2-1 in the 62nd minute when a deep free-kick was played towards the back post and Connor Deeks rose to head in.

The half was dominated by Wroxham and with five minutes left Molloy reacted quickly to save at close range, with the follow-up being blocked. The equaliser duly arrived in the 87th minute however. A speculative shot from Payton Swatman took a wicked deflection off a Gorleston defender which sent the ball up and over Molloy into the goal.

The killer blow arrived in the third minute of time added on when the ball was lifted into the area where a Greens’ defender stretched to clear and the ball glanced off the top of his head and over Molloy into the net.

It was harsh on Gorleston who deserved something from the match but if they continue with this workrate it shouldn’t be long before they start winning again.
