Two members of Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club travelled north to participate in the Asics Greater Manchester Marathon.
The weather conditions were ideal for the 10,000 runners and there were plenty of spectators and music along the course, all adding to the occasion.
Craig Honey, running only his second marathon, having previously done London in 2015 in 3:56.16, was pleased with his result. His expectations were to try and go sub 3:30 so a finish time of 3:27.23 was a fine effort.
Pat Brightman, a veteran of marathon running was also thrilled with her result — a finish time of 5:21.03 is her fourth best, having competed in 37 marathons over a 25-year period. But Pat won’t be putting her feet up - she’ll be taking to the roads of London for her 22nd attempt. She is undergoing a challenge of running, walking and cycling 1,952 miles in 2017 in celebration of a forthcoming milestone birthday.
