On a beautiful sunny day at the Wellesley the Bloaters suffered their worst defeat since joint-managers Martyn Sinclair and Adam Mason took charge.

The game kicked off with the Bloaters on the front foot and they almost went in front when Sean Perfect drifted inside and fired his shot narrowly wide of the far post.

Mitcgh Forbes then fired in a shot that Knight got in the way of and as Aaron Sanders was about the bury the rebound the keeper got back to scramble the ball away.

The visitors were good in possession but it was the home side who struck the first blow on 18 minutes. Knight dithered over a back pass and the keeper’s hasty clearance hit Sanders on the back and the striker reacted quickest to head home for his 10th goal of the season.

A minute later a lovely passing move by the home side saw Forbes hit a curling shot that was tipped away by Knight and from the resultant corner Forbes’ near post header narrowly missed the back post.

For the visitors the main threat appeared to come from right wing-back Tommy Wright and it was he who set up the equaliser for the visitors, sending in a cross that was not dealt with, allowing Carman to nip in and score.

The decisive moment came in the 34th minute as an off the ball incident involving Adie Ager saw the influential centre-back given a straight red card. Histon immediately sensed blood and another cross from the right provided another easy tap-in for Bexfield. The Bloaters briefly rallied but in truth looked shell-shocked after a decent early start.

The Bloaters came out for the second half more in hope than expectation and within a couple of minutes of the restart it was 3-1 as danger man Danny Gould caused havoc on the left and his cross was converted. There was a brief glimpse of a comeback when Davis hit a brilliant curling 25 yard free-kick, but his effort cannoned back off the post and Histon went on to add three further goals through Matt Hayden (2) and Evan Key, with the last two coming in the final 10 minutes.

Kyle Howell had earlier been stretchered off after a poor challenge that went unpunished and needed a check-up at hospital.
