Friday

Wayne Willgress was part of the winning team at the Mixed Triples competition for a record-breaking fifth time.

Willgress, Julie Warmsley and Matt Flatman played Terry Smith, Marlene Elvin and Bryan Elvin from Wymondham Dell in the final.

It was 3-3 after the third end and Willgress’ triple then led 7-3 at six ends, only for the Elvin triple to be level after at eight ends. At 10 ends Willgress led 10-8 and he then scored a three and a two to lead 14-8. It was an advantage the team kept to win the title 14-12.

In the semi-finals of the 3 Norfolk Square Guest House sponsored event, the Willgress trio played Jim Malcolm, June and Terry White. The Whites put early pressure on to lead 8-2 after five ends and laid shot the next end, only for Willgress to ditch the jack with a running wood to gain six shots.
