The UCI World Time Trial championship was held in Albi, France and Great Yarmouth CC rider Jenny Anderson, who had qualified earlier in the year, travelled over to ride the very technical course with some sharp turns.

Conditions were not great with sweltering heat, but a strong ride saw Anderson finish in a time of 40.27, earning her a ninth place finish in her age group, which was an excellent result.

Last Thursday Great Yarmouth CC held their penultimate time trial of the season. Conditions were dry but with an unfavourable wind. but six of the clubC riders managed to record course personal bests.

Larry Colby recorded 25.18, taking 31 seconds off his previous best. Steve Brown improved his personal best by 13 seconds to record 25.38 and Francesca Dixon-Grant knocked an amazing 53 seconds off her previous best to finish in a time of 31.59.

Steve Grant completed in 25.21 to reduce his personal best by 38 seconds and Brian Carr took 16 seconds off his best, recording 26.51.

Simon Smith, who has recorded a personal best in every ride this season, took another five seconds off to finish in 26.37. The event was won by Lucas He in 22.22.

The final time trial held by Diss CC for the season attracted 25 riders, who took part in fair conditions.

Great Yarmouth’s Jan Smith recorded another course personal best with a time of 26.45 while Mark Richards won the event in 21.24.

On Saturday, Cycling Club Breckland held their 25-mile Time Trial in excellent conditions. The event saw GYCC’s Tom Moore break the hour barrier for the first time, recording 57.31 and improving on his old personal best by 3 minutes 50, a truly excellent result.

Also on Saturday, Jan Smith was taking part in Godric CC’s 25 TT event. Here she smashed her personal best, taking off a whole five minutes 30 seconds off to finish in 1.05.45.

Bank Holiday Monday saw the VC Norwich 10-mile Time Trial over the A11 Wymondham to Snetterton course. Tom Moore was riding again on what was a very warm morning. He completed the course in 23.29, which would have been a personal best. A late start, however, earned him a 45-second time penalty and he was given an official time of 24.14.
