It was a fairly quiet week in the cycling calendar for Great Yarmouth CC but certainly not uneventful as a new club record was set.

Jan Smith was the lone Yarmouth representative at last week’s Godric 10 which went ahead on a warm day with a light breeze.

This saw 30 riders take part. Smith completed in 27:49 – an excellent time - with the event being won by Joe Skipper in 20:23.

Andy Tyler travelled down to ride the e2/10 near Newmarket on Sunday to take part in the Eastern Counties Cycling Association 25-mile scratch championships and certainly did the club proud.

Conditions were very warm and Tyler completed the course in 54:05 and in doing so broke the Great Yarmouth Cycling Club’s 25 mile record, the blue ribband event of cycling time trials. His time shaved 17 seconds off the previous club record that was set back in 2011.

His time positioned him in 17th place out of 126 riders, an excellent result.
