The second coastal derby of the season takes place at Emerald Park on Easter Monday (3pm) - with Great Yarmouth Town aiming to set the record straight after a painful defeat earlier in the campaign.

Gorleston were flying at the time of the Wellesley showdown and came away with an impressive 3-1 victory in a match watched by a bumper crowd of 807.

At the time the Greens looked like strong contenders for the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title but they have slipped out of contention in recent weeks, and suffered a fourth successive defeat at Ipswich Wanderers at the weekend.

By contrast the Bloaters have maintained their solid form, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Ely their first defeat in four, and while they remain 12 points behind their neighbours they could yet finish just one place behind them in fifth position.

Before the derby both sides have games to focus on tomorrow, with Gorleston on their travels to take on Hadleigh, who are fourth from bottom, three points ahead of Wivenhoe.

Great Yarmouth’s first game of the Easter weekend is another important one, a home clash with Stanway Rovers, who lie three points and one place above them.

Having suffered only their fourth away defeat all season at Ely the joint managers were philosophical about the outcome and pleased with an outstanding debut from Josh Ford and a first goal for Tom Hunter which somewhat softened the blow of defeat ahead of an important game.
