Great Yarmouth Town travelled to league leaders Felixstowe & Walton United on Tuesday evening and stretched their unbeaten league run to seven games with a superb victory.

Joint manager Adam Mason described the win as the best result since he and Martyn Sinclair took over at the club.

With seven first team regulars missing, the Bloaters once again trusted in youth, starting three 17-year-olds and 16-year-old Connor Milligan in goal.

After an even start the deadlock was broken in the 36th minute when Ben Lewis used his strength to outmuscle the physical Felixstowe midfield to find himself 25 yards out and his fierce strike was too good for the keeper.

Felixstowe, who are 18 points clear at the top of the table, we’re always going to be a threat and in the 41st minute it looked like they had a chance to get back into the game. Kyle Howell was adjudged to have fouled the Felixstowe winger and a penalty was awarded but Miles Powell’s strike was saved by young Milligan.

Felixstowe did however get themselves back in it two minutes later with a great strike from 20 yards just beating the outstretched keeper.

The second half saw the Bloaters expressing themselves after a great first half performance. But Felixstowe’s quality was evident and they always looking a threat in what was beocming an end-to- end game.

Kieran Hagan was starting to put his mark on the game using his skill to cause Felixstowe problems at the back. His trickery paid off in the 80th minute where he took on a couple of defenders 25 yards out to find himself in a shooting position. The 17-year-old hit a great dipping shot over the keeper to the delight of the some 20 plus supporters that had made the long journey.

The drama was not over however. Felixstowe went in search of an equaliser and played a long searching ball forward where a slip in The Yarmouth defence saw Powell bearing down on the ball. The onrushing Milligan was deemed to have taken the striker down as they met the ball together 25 yards from goal. A yellow card was brandished, to the disappointment of the 200 plus Felixstowe faithful who were screaming for a red.

The Bloaters saw the game out, to take all three points on the road against a very good side. Attendance: 252
