After a disappointing defeat at home to Norwich United in midweek the Bloaters were looking to bounce back with a win against bottom side Framlingham - but they ended up losing again.

Joint managers Adam Mason and Martyn Sinclair were presented with a bottle of bubbly each by president Arthur Fisk as this was their 150th game in charge.

Cain Eagleton was injured which meant a return for skipper Ady Ager who had served a one game ban. There was a welcome return for striker Tom Cullumbine who had missed most of the season through injury.

The Wellseley was looking in great condition in the sunshine as the Bloaters looked to take their first home points of the season against a side who had picked up their first point against Gorleston the previous weekend.

The hosts started well as Hagan curled a shot from the edge of the area narrowly wide and went on to play some good football without seriously troubling the keeper. Lewis hit a good shot that went narrowly wide but the best chance of the half fell to Chris Thorpe for the visitors who headed over from an excellent cross.

After the break the home side were grateful to defender Josh Ford who cleared a dangerous cross and then got in the way of powerful shot as the visitors missed a good chance to take the lead.

Barnes made a terrific save to deny the visitors and substitute Milbourne should have put them ahead when he missed the rebound with the goal at his mercy. Palmer, on for Forbes, won a corner and Ager’s header was cleared off the line as the Bloaters went close.

With 15 minutes left a seemingly innocuous cross came into the home area but it was Smith who reacted quickest and hit a volley that skimmed the crossbar. Cullumbine came on to replace Perfect and was on the end of a swift break, with his powerful shot rattling the crossbar.

With five minutes left a crossfield pass appeared to have been intercepted by Palmer but the ball ran under the youngster’s foot and winger Willett took full advantage as he fired the ball past Barnes to give the visitors the lead. It could have been two as Ling fired a shot over after more good work by Smith.

Deep into injury-time Sanders hit a firmly struck shot onto the bar before the visitors were again denied by Barnes.
