Gt Yarmouth Tn 3 King’s Lynn Tn Res 1
Great Yarmouth Town have moved up to second place in the Thurlow Nunn First Division.
The Bloaters overcame the challenge of the Linnets thanks to a brace from Mitch Forbes and one from Sean Perfect, which gave them a three-goal advantage at half-time. It leaves Town – who entertain Stowmarket Town tomorrow – four points behind leaders Wivenhoe Town and two ahead of third-placed Halstead Town.
Skippered by 18-year-old Connor Deeks, Yarmouth were ahead against Lynn after 12 minutes when Forbes rounded the keeper.
Forbes doubled his, and Yarmouth’s, tally on 25 minutes with a header from a Declan McAvoy corner, and four minutes later the scorer turned provider, with a superb ‘Rabona’ pass putting Perfect through to make it 3-0. Lynn pulled one back after the break but it was Town who took the points.
Gorleston, who drew 1-1 at second-placed Godmanchester Rovers on Saturday, are back in action tonight, when they entertain Swaffham Town (7.45pm). The Greens are ninth in the Premier Division table, a place and a point behind their opponents.
