Gorleston are at Saffron Walden tomorrow and on Tuesday night travel with a chance to complete a quick double over a resurgent Fakenham Town whom they beat by the only goal of the game midweek.

The Reserves return to action tomorrow at Emerald Park after a two-week lay-off when they entertain Ipswich Wanderers Reserves in the Chell Trophy quarter-finals.

On Tuesday night they visit Debenham LC in the league.

Gorleston 1, Fakenham 0

IN an anxious six minutes of time added on Gorleston held on to make it three clean sheets in a row on Tuesday night and earn another valuable three points.

Aaron Bowers and John Bell were both out injured and, with Eddie Thompson absent awaiting the birth of his twins, Sean Blowers took over as captain, writes David Hardy. Liam Bartley returned up front in place of the unavailable Peter Lambert.

Despite being bottom of the table Fakenham had drawn four of their last five games, all away from home.

Bartley and Gary Williams both had early chances for Gorleston whilst Chris Sandford charged down a close-range shot from Fakenham's Tom McCarthy that seemed destined for the goal.

The Ghosts should have taken the lead 10 minutes before half-time when they broke down the right and a cross found Jake Betts all alone at the far post, but he directed his header straight at Elliot Pride.

Fakenham were a big side who seemed first to everything and when the Greens did get the ball forward to striker Liam Bartley he lacked support.

This was addressed by manager Richard Daniels at half-time when he replaced Thomas Daniels with Kevin Howes and went from a five man midfield to 4-4-2.

Bartley should have then put the Greens in front as he chased a long ball and found himself one on one with the keeper. He chose to round the keeper, went slightly wide and by the time he pulled the ball back onto his right foot Matthew Gilchrist got back to clear off the line.

Reece Hunn chested the ball down and fired a quick shot which struck the angle of post and bar and bounced down on the line before being cleared.

A minute later, after good work, Howes laid the ball off to Hunn whose shot was parried by the keeper to Bartley who direct the ball into goal off his hip.

Five minutes from time Pride threw himself to his right to save a header and keep the Greens in front. Then a long Fakenham throw was flicked on at the near postbut drifted past the far post.
