Gorleston Football Club have just sent off two cheques – to Help for Heroes and Save the Children.

Each was for 225, the proceeds of the charity match held a while ago when they played the crew of HMS Dauntless, who are thanked for taking part. All proceeds from that game were handed over to charity.

So far this season Gorleston have raised 800 for charity with the Sailor Brown Tournament raising 350, presentations for that having being made to the Lymphoma Society in memory of one of the Greens’ supporters, and the Neo-Natal Unit at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital by way of a thankyou for the safe delivery of the captain’s twins.

Both Leo and Zac Thompson are doing well and, along with big brother Dylan, are already Gorleston supporters.

It is great credit to the club that, despite struggling to find sponsors and a chairman this season, it has raised this money through hard, voluntary work and support from its loyal supporters.

n If there is anyone who feels they can help in any way, they should contact club secretary Ann on 01493 600590 or come along to a game and have a chat with one of the committee.
