Gorleston continued to suffer from the freeze midweek when their Norfolk Senior Cup quarter-final tie at Dereham was postponed until Tuesday, 7.45pm ko at Aldiss Park.

Ahead of that, the Greens, along with all other clubs in the area that have been kicking their heels and nothing else because of the snow, hope for a return to action tomorrow and on Sunday.

Gorleston are due to enterain Downham at Emerald Park tomorrow. While the Greens are in a promising seventh place in the Ridgeons First Division, their visitors are sixth bottom with 20 points from 19 games.

Gorleston will have growing worries about a fixture backlog as they have as many as five games in hand over clubs above them, having played 15 for a points haul of 27.

In the Great Yarmouth & District League, for a third week running no games were played. This means clubs can expect to play midweek come April time.

The fixture secretary has also taken the step of pushing the Percy Nockolds Cup back towards the end of the season to see if it can be played then, but this is not certain.

However, the priority is to get the league and main cup competitions finished first.

A couple points must also be raised: that should your game be postponed, clubs must not just assume but have it confirmed. Then it is the responsibility of the home team to ring their opponents, the match referee, fixture secretary and referees' secretary.

Clubs are not doing this although it is in the guide to calling games off.

Due to the Percy Nockolds Cup being pushed back the league has issued new fixtures for January 30. All clubs should check their emails to see who opponents and venues are. Any problems, please call the fixtures secretary on 07788 592529.

Hopefully clubs will see a more positive outlook this week in terms of games being played. See fixtures on page 26.
