GORLESTON Football club is searching for a new chairman after Ann Santon stepped down.

The decision to quit the post she had filled on a temporary basis was announced at the club's annual meeting. She had taken on the role at the start of last season, succeeding club stalwart Jimmy Jones.

She said: “Sadly it was no longer possible to combine the role with my work commitments. I will be staying on the committee to focus on the commercial side, which is very important in the present financial climate with money extremely hard to come by. During the past season all decisions had been made by committee and I'm sure this will continue to work well.”

Treasurer Mick Santon has also stood down to be replaced by Mick Kenmore. And Martin Gaines has been appointed secretary, taking over from Kevin Meale.
