Greens ready to tackle Canaries

Gorleston Football Club are getting set to entertain Norwich City in what promises to be a history making match next week.

The Greens take on the Canaries in the pre season fixture at Emerald Park on Wednesday, July 16, 7.

The Greens take on the Canaries in the pre season fixture at Emerald Park on Wednesday, July 16, 7.45pm.

The first ever match against City's first team is providing the perfect curtain raiser to Gorleston's 125th anniversary celebrations.

Plans are being made for Gorleston to entertain an FA representative team in February or March to mark next year's anniversary.

Tickets are on sale for Gorleston's pre-season friendly against Norwich City.

They are available from Planet Football, 164 King St, Gt Yarmouth and Music Lovers at 107 High St, Gorleston.

The club house at Emerald Park will be open on Sunday, July 6 and 13, from 10am to 2pm for ticket sales.

Prices are £10 adults and £8 for concessions, children under 16 and OAPs.

Parking on the evening will be available at Oriel High School, Oriel Avenue NR31 7JJ. Limited disability spaces will be available at the ground. Parking will be free but a collection will be made in the car park and ground for the Royal Anglian Benevolent Charity, for families and soldiers injured in the line of duty. The club will also be making a donation, the presentation to be made at the first league home game.

Will all Gorleston supporters please note that the friendly originally scheduled for Emerald Park tomorrow has now been switched to Dereham to protect the pitch ahead of the Norwich game.
