GORLESTON'S unbeaten run of 10 league games came to an end against a well-organised Hares on Saturday, writes David Hardy.

The back three played well, with Sean Blowers outstanding, but the midfield, despite working hard, were unable to get on top of their game.

The Greens created several clear openings but were unable to convert them. Mitch Forbes worked hard with no luck and Pete Lambert had a brilliant header go narrowly wide.

Two Gorleston mistakes in the final 20 minutes allowed March in to score. DJ Kareche had the ball in the net for the visitors after the goalkeeper had dropped it, but this was ruled out for a foul on the keeper.

Manager Richard Daniels said: “We didn't play well, created good chances, but got punished twice in the last 20 minutes for our own mistakes.

“It simply wasn't going to be our day, we had enough of the ball, but that doesn't matter a jot if we don't score.

“We must bounce back this week at home against Saffron Walden, another tough game, but we must produce the goods in front of our home crowd.”

Walden lost 3-0 at Thetford on Saturday, but secured a creditable 1-1 draw at March on Tuesday night.

They took the lead after just three minutes when Luke Goreham started and finished a move involving Craig Lewis, Gary Todd and Harry Maddison.

Two minutes later Louie Turner ran unchallenged for 20 yards from the halfway line before setting up Maddison to fire home from 18 yards across the keeper's dive.

Stowmarket pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining but two minutes later an unmarked

Scott Butler restored Gorleston's two-goal advantage.
