AFTER months of intensive training the day finally arrived for the Virgin London Marathon — so along with 34,708 other runners, two members of Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club took to the roads across the capital, taking in all the sights along the way.

Chris Gay had followed the marathon schedule and was pleased with his time of 3-47:23.

Pat Brightman, running her 16th London, had trained well until a month ago when she contracted a viral infection, so was happy to beat last year’s time by 20 minutes and finish in 5-54:17.

Thanks went to all the GYDAC supporters along the route — Elaine, Dawn, Karly, Diane, Maureen, John, Sue and Penny, whose cheering kept the runners going.

Sue Ryles had to withdraw at the very last minute but still went to London to support her two club-mates.
