Halvergate bounced back from a poor display in the previous week to come out victorious in their match against Caister.

This win strengthens Halvergate's league position in mid-table and, with games to come against the bottom three teams, they will be looking for a strong finish to the season.

Caister chose to bat first and

got away to a good start with a mixture of solid defence from R Stokes and some aggressive shots from P Lanning.

The bowlers were a little guilty of feeding Lanning's drive but the partnership was broken in the 14th over when a direct hit from Shaun Howley saw Stokes run out for 11 with the score on 40.

Lanning continued to bat well with I Green, but was trapped LBW for 40 by Willimott when he tried to turn a straight ball into the leg side.

Shortly afterwards Green was also adjudged lbw for 11 with the score on 75 in the 25th over.

The re-introduction of Tom Booth into the attack brought immediate success as he had R Brown caught behind by Clarke. Booth and Willimott then started to strangle the scoring with only 25 runs coming from the next 10 overs.

The pressure began to build and Willimott was rewarded with two quick wickets to leave Caister floundering on 106 for six with just seven overs remaining.

However, Johnson decided to throw caution to the wind, and with some big shots started to build a respectable total. He did not receive much help from his partners as Halvergate continued to chip away at the wickets from the other end.

In the end Johnson was stumped by Clarke in the penultimate over for 28, but he had brought Caister in with a shout as their innings closed on 141 for nine.

Halvergate knew that if they got a good start, their long batting line-up should be capable of knocking off the target set them and they got just that as S Clarke and S Cooke notched up a 50 partnership in the first 12 overs.

Although they weren't without luck, as C Tennant frequently beat the bat with some seam movement.

To their credit, Caister plugged away and got their reward when Cooke fell for 18 after he sliced a drive from Kerrison to point.

Clarke also fell a few overs later, when a superb catch from Stokes saw him dismissed for 31.

Another wicket fell soon after, to leave the score on 61 for three from

18 overs and Halvergate wondered if they were witnessing the start of another collapse.

Fortunately, this was not the case as Simon Brister and Pat Hill steadied the ship and set about building a match-winning partnership.

They began to take command of the game and put on 71 runs together to take the score to within 10 of victory, before Hill was bowled for a fine 34.

Brister knocked off the remaining runs to finish with 44 not out and see Halvergate home with six wickets and 10 overs to spare.
