The village of Halvergate will boast a football team once again with the formation of AFC Halvergate for the 2012-13 season.

Halvergate has been bereft of a side since the folding of Halvergate United in 2008, when in the Premier Division of the Anglian Combination. AFC Halvergate applied to join the Great Yarmouth and District Football League and have been accepted to play in Division Two.

At an inaugural meeting in May, the club’s executive committee was formed, consisting of Arthur Fisk, Kevin Cruickshank, Brian Smith, Richard Giles and Andy Watson.

Cruickshank will manage the newly formed team and the first training session has been arranged for this Tuesday (July 3), meeting at Halvergate Playing Field, Wickhampton Road, Halvergate at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

Any players and coaches interested in a challenge and progressing this new club are welcome to attend.

For further information contact Cruickshank on 01493 657351 or via the club’s website, www.pitchero.com/clubs/afchalvergate.

n TOWN Hall would like to remind everyone that training will commence for the new season on Tuesday, July 10 at 7pm on Green Lane.

The club also has a number of friendlies lined up.

Town Hall hope that all of last season’s squad will re-sign, along with some new players.

The club also has the registration forms for the new seasons and as per last season the signing on fee is 15 to cover insurance with the club.
