Hat-trick hero Bailey clinches regional title for East Norfolk Sixth Form College

East Norfolk Sixth Form College became Eastern Region Knockout Cup kings in dramatic fashion thanks to a hat-trick from a supersub.
East Norfolk started brightly, but found themselves 2-0 down after 25 minutes. A quick reply from Trett and Thacker saw East Norfolk back in the game and controlling play, going into half time 2-2. Bailey came on for Thacker after half-time and combined well for Meekin to score the best individual goal of the game.
Armes added to the tally with a clinical penalty to make it 4-2. Hills Road then replied before Bailey was rewarded with a great left-foot strike to make it 5-3 with 20 minutes to go.
East Norfolk started to look hesitant in defence and conceded two poor goals in quick succession to give the opposition hope of a late comeback.
An own goal gave East Norfolk the edge and with two minutes to go a hopeful ball into the box was bundled over the line to make the score 6-6 and take the game into extra time.
Bailey added to his tally midway through the first half of extra time to make it 7-6 and although Hills Road tried to get the ball forward quickly, East Norfolk finally defended well, and could have added further to their score in the dying minutes.

East Norfolk were elated at the final whistle and became deserved East of England regional champions and are looking forward to a good draw in the quarter-final round of the National Knockout Cup.
Last week saw great success for East Norfolk’s other sporting teams. The women’s football team won 1–0 against Hills Road to progress to the quarter- finals of the plate. Broghan Scully scored five minutes from the end in a tight game.
The men’s second team won 4-1 against Easton College in the league to make it six wins in a row.
Jack Miller scored twice, Kai Walding and Callum Potter also scored.
Another dominant display saw their run of wins increase to six and move three points clear at the top of the league.
The men’s basketballers won 62–49 against Easton College.
It was a pleasing performance especially as they hadn’t trained for a long time due to the pressure of exams. Top scorer was Abe Jacob.
The mixed badminton team won 7-3 against City College to progress to the plate final.
