HOCKEY: Great Yarmouth Development Team travelled to Dereham on a bitterly cold afternoon, two key players short. This enabled Jade and Rachel to play full games for the first time in a while, at right defence and right wing respectively, and a debut was given to young Jess.

Yarmouth dominated the play from the start, forcing Dereham back into their half. A great flowing movement between Jill and Maddie in the middle saw the ball slid through to Rachel on the wing, who ran on and slotted the ball into the net.

Later in the half Rachel had another shot on goal, only to see it saved by the Dereham keeper, but Hannah was in the right place to sweep the rebound into the net ,making the score 2-0.

The second half saw Dereham push forward and look more dangerous, but the Yarmouth defence soaked up the pressure and played the ball out to the wide players .Becky worked tirelessly in the middle, using her speed to run at the opposing defence. Jess came on the left wing and showed confidence on the ball in her first game. The final result was 2-0 to Great Yarmouth with defenders Rebecca and Ellie receiving the Players of the Match plaudits.
