THREE Great Yarmouth Road Runners decided to attack the Good Friday 10k at Broome near Bungay in memory of Roger Wing, a Bungay Black Dog Running Club stalwart.

A total of 173 runners finished the undulating course on a very hot spring day, which was a bit of shock to most of the runners taking part.

First home and in seventh place overall was Andrew Manning in a time of 38:23. He won the vet male first prize but his legs still felt heavy after the Bungay Half Marathon two weeks ago.

Karen Manning ran strongly throughout for 47:33 and got close to a pb time yet again, but needs more training in the heat. Dave Girling ran consistently again, clocking up the races, and finished in 50:57. A good outing by all three.

Eight runners from Great Yarmouth Road Runners tackled the Trowse 10k on Easter Sunday which had 424 entrants.

All ran well. It was a hot day and a challenging course, with all runners competing strongly – but none more than Paul Spandler who obtained the only pb of the day.

Sean Jermy was unlucky not to finish under the 40-minute mark while Stephen Dady again performed well in his age category.

Mark Peach pushed himself to the limit to finish well under the 50-minute time and in doing so pipped Andy Peck to the line.

Dave Girling finished his third race over the Easter weekend after completing the Good Friday 10k followed by the Saturday parkrun and then also the Trowse 10k. He is now well on his way to his target of 50 races this year.

Lorraine Dawson ran well after sustaining a back injury earlier in the week while beating off the competition from Paul Spandler, who is now close to his brother’s own pb.

Results: 27th Sean Jermy 40:01, 82nd Stephen Dady 44:33, 105th Mark Peach 46:05, 106th Andy Peck 46:05, 169th Dave Girling 48:47, 239th Lorraine Dawson 51:27, 292nd Paul Spandler 53:55 (new pb), 342nd Peter Spandler 57:40.

Nine of the Great Yarmouth Road Runners were at a very warm and sunny parkrunun on Saturday in a good field of 136.
