TOM Roper of Winterton took four wickets in four deliveries in the Norfolk League Division Four match with Shipdham.

With the score on 71 for 5 as Shipdham replied to Winterton's 200 all out, Tom, the 19-year-old son of club chairman Geoff, in his ninth over claimed four victims with successive balls.

He then took the last wicket in his next over, finishing on six for 25, a personal best. The four wickets were an lbw, caught behind, and the next two were bowled.

Tom is now over 30 wickets for the season, bowling medium pace, and is also developing into a handy batsman.

Tom and Josh Austin were the stars of the show as Winterton thrashed Shipdham by 119 runs to stay top of the table.

Winterton won the toss and batted first on the surprisingly hard and dry Shipdham wicket.

Austin made another fine half-century with 65. The other Winterton batsmen got starts but did not go on to post big scores, the Tonnies just creeping to the 200 mark for maximum batting points. D Pyman (3-12) was the most successful home bowler.

In the field Winterton produced a massive improvement on the previous week's showing and the bowlers were particularly tight, which soon paid dividends as Ben Utting (3-20) helped remove part of the top order.

It was then left to Tom Roper to reduce Shipdham to 81 all out and hand Winterton full points.
