Gorleston FC Hurricanes put behind them last season’s cup defeat and grabbed some Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League

silverware with goals from Declan, Reece and Ben giving them the Under 15 Cup sponsored by the Great Yarmouth Sunday League by beating last year’s double winners, Hornets of Beccles.

Two early Hurricane goals set the pace with Hornets looking for a way back. Another Hurricanes goal and a penalty for the Hornets ended the scoring.

Kirkley & Pakefield Wildcats started in form in their Under 14 Shield final against Harleston, a first-minute goal followed by another very quickly gave them a 2-0 lead and despite Jacob getting on the scoresheet for Harleston, Wildcats added two more to take the Under 14 Shield sponsored by Colin Bray of 99 Design.

On a day of three finals, the first was the Under 13 Shield sponsored by Guy Brown of Guys Carpets, which saw Hawks of Gorleston Rangers meet Jaguars of Waveney. There were nine goals and Hawks manager Jody Potter had no hesitation in picking out hat-trick hero Joshua as their player of the match. There were also with goals from Adam and two from Brandon giving them a 6-3 win.

Ormesby Lads with both the Lions and the Tigers in semi-final action welcomed Eagles of Gorleston Rangers and Thundercats of Waveney, two very strong teams standing in the way of an all Ormesby final.

Goals from Sonny and Aaron saw the Lions make the final, and they will meet Eagles who kept the Tigers at bay.

There were two semi-finals at Under 10 where goals from Thomas were enough to see Brooke overcome Waveney Pumas and they will meet Galaxy of Stalham as both Beccles Wasps and the Galaxy could not be decided in normal time despite Izaac’s goals for Wasps. It all came down to the penalty shoot-out, and Stalham were successful and will meet Brooke in the final on Sunday, April 30 at Emerald Park.

Cup football will dominate this weekend’s fixtures at Emerald Park. The Under 13 Cup final is between Panthers of Kirkley & Pakefield and Falcons of Gorleston Rangers.

Next is the Under 14 Cup final, an all-Gorleston affair between Eagles and Gorleston FC. Finally it is the Under 15 Shield final, between Tornados of Gorleston and Hemsby. Finals start at 10am.
