ACLE Ladies played the Dell in the Vivienne Trophy. Edna Land, Debra Nicholson, Pat Dickinson and Bing Smith playing away were 10-8 up at 10 ends scored a five on the 15th to go 19-16 and and won 26-20.

Also away Pam Symes, Janice Wilson, Dawn Horne and Anne Drury were 4-11 down at 10 ends 10-12 at 15-15 each at 19 and won 18-16.

At home Anita Nelson, Margaret Rowsell, Lillian Barber and Pat Pegram were 6-9 down at 10 scored a six on the 15th to lead 18-10 and went on to win 21-14. Gladys Gibbs, Brenda Cole, Rose Yaxley and Margaret Shields were 5-11 down at 10 ends scored a five on the 12th and were 15 each at 17 going on to win 21-15.

After 10 ends the team were 10 shots behind but by 18 were 10 shots up with a final score of 86-65.

Acle Ladies' A were away to table-toppers Pinewood. Margaret Arnold, Ros Myhill and Sue Batchelor were three each at four ends then 5-9 down at 10 and won all the remaining ends to win 11-9.

Jennifer Hudson, Lillian Barber and Melanie Haylett scored a four on the third and a five on the 6th to go into a 11-4 lead and won 16-10. Gerry Reeve's block were 4-1 up at four ends then 5-10 down at 10 and lost 5-14. Marie Barker's block went from 0-6 down to 11-7 up at nine ends but on the 12th they dropped an eight and finished 12-24. Result 44-57 and 2-6 pts

ACLE LADIESB, at home to Brecks, had Pam Symes, Debra Nicholson and Bing Smith 7-5 up at five ends and 11-8 at eight, but after 11 ends it was 11-18. Playing the final end and 12-19 down they found a way to score an eight and win 20-19.

Sandra Faircloth, Margaret Shields and Anne Drury scored two fours and were 11-3 up at five ends, 14-7 up after 10 then dropped a five but won 15-13. Sue Moore, Shirley Genery and Pat Pegram were 4-7 down at seven ends, scored a five on the eighth and in a dramatic final end drew 11 each.

Dawn Horne's block went 5-1 up at four ends to 5-11 down at 10 and finished 8-12. Result 54-55 and 2�-5� pts.

ACLE MEN'S C at home to league leaders Bowling Club needed a win to put them into the top half of the table. Daniel Seabourne, Willy Jeffries, making his debut, Adrian Smith and Ashley Smith were 9-10 at 12 ends, 17-11 at 17 then scored a seven on the 20th and went on to win 27-12.

Roy Roofe, Bert West, Alan Casburn and Brian Grint were 6-9 at 10 ends scored a five on the 13th and were 17-12 at 18 and won 19-16. Keith Owen, Jim Cole, Pat Garrod and Mick Askham were 7-8 at 10 ends, 11 each at 15, won the next four ends to lead 18-11 and in a close final end won 18-17.

Russell Thurtle, 12-year-old Dan Mills making his debut, Bill Downie and Pat Beales were 5-6 at six ends, 11 each at 14, 14 each at 18 and needed a four to win on the final end. They trailed the jack two inches short of the target and lost 15-17. This puts them six points from the top of the table but with a game in hand. Result 79-62 and 6-1 pts.

Acle winners of the Anglian Junior Championships at Potters, Hopton, were Daniel Seabourne and Matthre Sparrow.

In the Scottish Open, Acle's Tim Stone knocked out 13th seed Les Gillettt 8-3, 7-5 to meet former Acle member John Price.

Browston Hall Bowls

The Ladies' B team won seven points from their home game against Roundwood B. Eileen Newberry, Joyce Harvey and Jill Adams gave the team a good shots start by winning 24-7. Dahlia MacDonald, Alice Brotherton and Linda Friend had a close game, winning 17-16, and Jill Boggis, Pat Smith and Ann Ingham won a low-scoring game 9-7, Doreen Ellis 9-13.

Browston Ladies played Diss in the Mason Trophy, but against a very strong experienced side came out second best.

Great Yarmouth Indoor Ladies Bowls Club

Great Yarmouth Blues played at home against Shotford B, winning on three rinks and losing on one.

It was a very close game, with the scores level on 19-19 at five ends. By the ninth end the Blues had opened up a gap of seven shots, which was reduced to two shots by the 11th. Blues emerged victorious with 48 shots to 41 (8-7).

W Ellison, J Saunders and M Oram started slowly and at six ends were 2-8 down, but they won the next three ends 5-0, which brought them up to 7-8. They lost the next two ends 0-2, but with a five and a one over the last three ends, with only one against, they managed to win 13-11.

H Farrow, A Burrage and T Lewis were 7-6 ahead at six ends, and 9-6 at 10 ends, but Shotford took four more shots to nil from the Blues and they lost by just one shot 9-10.

J Carter, P George and J Rose took the upper hand right from the start of the game and kept ahead all the way through, winning 14-9, which included two fours and a three. M Surplice, C Prescott and C Jesty held 8-3 at six ends and then allowed their opponents to draw level on 10 ends 9-9, but with another three shots to the Blues to two against over the last four ends, they gained a narrow 12-11 victory.
