Great Yarmouth Town have been paired with Wroxham in both their remaining cup competitions.

First it was the Senior Cup fourth round on November 21 then last week the two clubs were paired again in the Ridgeons League Cup second round four days later on November 24. Both games will take place at the Wellesley, writes Gerry Brown.

Manager Paul Tong commented: “It may all look tough but we'll just get on with it. If you want to win anything you have to play the best, and they are the best. ”

Tong also announced that he had made his fifth contract signing in goalkeeper Michael Hilton: “He waited his time when Elliott (Pride) was No 1 and has now reaped his reward.

“I consider him the superior goalkeeper and his growing maturity - remember he is only 19 - is very pleasing.”

In the absence of Adrian Ager, Hilton has also been team captain whenever Stewart Roach has been omitted from the starting 11.

Yarmouth face a strong challenge to their promotion credentials tomorrow when they entertain Halstead at the Wellesley (3pm).

Halstead missed out on promotion last season by one point after being held to a draw by the Bloaters in the final match of the season. After a stop-start beginning to this season they are rapidly moving up Division One, despite a surprise defeat at home to Whitton United last Saturday.

Admission is 4 and 2 (concessions) with U16s only 1 with an accompanying adult.

The Reserves visit Norwich United tomorrow and on Tuesday entertain Walsham-le-Willows Res (7.45pm). The U18s have a big derby game Wednesday when Gorleston U18 visit the Wellesley (7.45). Admission to both games is 2 and 1 (concessions) with U16s free accompanied by an adult.
