Great Yarmouth's 13-year-old Kingfisher boxer Jade Munro became the first-ever female fighter in Norfolk to win a National ABA boxing title, and the first schoolgirl in England ever to win national titles in four different combat sports when she travelled to Portsmouth for the ABA national school-girl finals.

Jade won the 48k Class 1 (born in 1997) with a comprehensive points win over highly-fancied Heart Of Portsmouth fighter Tilly Evans.

The judges scored the bout 15-7 to the Yarmouth girl.

Jade held the centre of the ring and controlled the bout with her accurate double jabs, landing crisp right hands that had the Portsmouth girl's head snapping back.

Jade was up 12-5 at the end of two excellent rounds and Evans threw herself at the Yarmouth girl in the final round knowing she was well behind.

But Jade handled the pressure well, edging the third round 3-2 with crisp counter-punches.

She ended up with well over double Evans' points tally, winning the title 15-7 and outclassing the Portsmouth fighter.

At the end of the championships Jade was singled out for praise by head England coach Mick Gammon.

Her beaten opponent was awarded the Best Runner-Up of the Championships, after a day of female boxing of the highest standard.

Coach John Hutchins said “This showed how good Jade's bout was, she fought superbly.”

Jade has now won national titles in a record breaking four different combat sports - boxing, Thaiboxing, full- contact kickboxing, and semi-contact kick-fighting.

Jade would like to thank her coach John Hutchins and all the other coaches at Kingfishers for the hard work they have put in and Frank Crosswell for helping her with her fitness.

Jade trains four days a week with coach John Hutchins and also helps coach the junior fighters at her dad's kickboxing gym twice a week.
