Great Yarmouth CC’s Jenny Anderson, Jan Smith and Stephen Brown travelled to Earsham to ride the Godric 10.

Conditions were good with a slight crosswind and Anderson finished in 26:17, Smith in 27:57 and Brown in 26.11. The event was won by Iain Robertson (Tri Anglia) in a 22:25.

The second instalment of the GYCC 10 mile time trial series saw 17 riders compete. Jonny Hawes was the fastest of the GYCC riders in 24:11, earning him second place. Chris Hodds, riding his first time trial this season, completed in 25:53.

Jan Smith and Chessie Wood both improved on last week’s times by over a minute, finishing in 28:50 and 33:57 respectively.

The event was won by Lucas He (VCB) in a time of 23:12.

Jenny Anderson, Tom Moore and Brian Carr travelled to Snetterton to take part in the VC Norwich 25 mile Time Trial on the A11.

Although it was a fairly dull day, conditions were favourable, and times were expected to be good. Brian Carr, who has recently returned to cycling and competing after 32 years off, set himself a target and beat it, completing in a time of 1:06:53, an excellent ride.

Tom Moore rode an amazing ride and completed in 1:00:52, setting himself a new personal best and making him the fastest GYCC rider at the event.

Jenny Anderson’s amazing ride absolutely smashed the women’s club 25 record, knocking three minutes 34 seconds off the previous time of 1:05:50 which she herself set in 2004 and taking it down to 1:02:16.

This was the second club record to fall this month.

Harley Matthews ended the recent run of local wins by King’s Lynn rider Matthew Senter by a margin of just two seconds.

In the VC Norwich 25 on the Larling to Wymondham and back course, Matthews (Dap CC) swept home in a time of 49 minutes 40 seconds, while Senter finished in 49:42.

Third spot went to Mark Richards (VC Baracchi) in 50:50, while former powerlifter Ben Stancombe of the King’s Lynn CC was a new name near the top with 50:58 for fourth place.

Thetford rider Dave Green, 53, was first veteran both on scratch with his 52:07 and also best on age-standard – a “plus” of 16:32. Green, incidentally, never rides on the open road except to compete, doing all his training on a static turbo-trainer.
