TRYING to shake off the Christmas excess by taking part in the annual Wymondham 10k held on New Years Day, four GYDAC members enjoyed their runs on this cold but bright morning.

As usual the race was a sell out with over 400 registered entries, so many runners were disappointed.

With a new start this year the race route around the countryside was undulating.

Sean Jermy, first GYDAC member home, had an excellent run, finishing in 49th place in this high-class field in a great time of 41:02

John England, still getting back to fitness, was timed at 56:14 in 273rd place. In 331st slot Maureen England recorded 64:41, a steady run.

Pat Brightman was pleased to get under 80 minutes after running with and encouraging a newcomer to the sport. Pat was placed 358th, timed at 79:53.

Next race is the Reedham 10 miles on February 1, a new event on the racing calendar for 2009.
