Sunday morning saw 19 Great Yarmouth Road Runners take on the City of Norwich Half Marathon.

The course was wet although it didn’t rain during the race. The cold wind however was less forgiving, making sections of the two-lap course very difficult.

There were some good times and personal bests. Some runners were running with injuries but everyone made it across the finish line in testing conditions.

First home was Sean Jermy, checking out his pace for next year’s London Marathon.

Stephen Leeves and Mathew Sutton and Andrew Baker were next home in well under 1 hour 40 mins. Matt Buckoke, John Bone and Mark Stone were just over.

Pauline Richardson had a very strong run closely followed by Nicola Baker.

For Theresa Fischer this was her first half marathon and she completed the course 1 hour 56 mins. Well done everyone.

Results: 143 Sean Jermy 1-34:00, 215 Stephen Leeves 1-37:32, 224 Matthew Sutton 1-37:36, 251st Andrew Baker 1-38:04, 394 Matt Buckoke 1-42:49, 405 John Bone 1-43:14, 427 Mark Stone 1-43:51, 697 Pauline Richardson 1-50:17, 732nd Peter Matthews 1-50:46, 824 Nicola Baker 1-53:38, 943 Toni George 1-54:43, 944 Mark Mountain 1-54:44, 967 Theresa Fischer 1-57:32, 1056 Steve Stringer 1-57:31, 1115 Ivan Lees 1-57:32, 1161st Lorrain Dawson 2-01:07, 1487 Stephen Dady 2-10:15, 1492 Sylvia Dady 2-10:18, 1922 Michelle Tovell 2-26:03

n It was Mucky Races come early for the runners who did the league cross country race at the UEA.

There was a long stretch through the ‘swamp of doom’ – about a ¼ mile through sticky mud past the ankles, with the ladies going through once on their three-mile race and the men going through twice on their two-lap six-mile race.

Results: Ladies: 7 Catherine Lee, 13 Nicola Baker, 17 Jess Futter. Field of 27. Ladies A team came 3rd and are 3rd in the league currently.

Mens: 18 Keelan Pywell, 20 Neil Sibley, 29 Sean Jermy, 39 Andy Clarke, 46 Elliott Brigham, 47 Andrew Baker, 53 Mike Spragg, 54 John Bone. Field of 73. Men’s A team came 5th and are 5th in the league. Men’s B team came 4th and are 3rd in the league. Next race is at Whitlingham on December 5.
