GREAT Yarmouth and District Athletics Club are organising a new road race on Sunday, February 1, starting at Reedham Village Hall, running through Reedham, Limpenhoe, Freethorpe and Wickhampton before returning to Reedham.

It is a beautiful scenic 10-mile route - an ideal race for runners preparing for a spring marathon like London - but also a good course for beginners, said race director Pat Brightman.

There are now 104 entries, and that number is increasing daily through the receipt of the entry forms printed in the Mercury and online entries at www.runnersworld.co.uk

The Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Terry Easter, will be starting the race and also presenting the prizes.

Support and sponsorship has been received from the Great Yarmouth Mercury, The Reedham Ship Freehouse and Cobalt Systems, Reedham.

All new runners looking for support and training tips are welcome to join GYDAC for a training session.

They meet on a Tuesday evening at 6.45pm from the College, Southtown Road, and on a Thursday at 7pm at the Wellesley.

Further information on training is available from Maureen on 01493 730831.
