FIGHTING Fit Judo Club member Connor May entered the Inter-Services Judo Championships at RAF Cosford and did himself and the judo club proud by winning a gold medal.

May, representing the Royal Navy, has been doing judo for only two years under the guidance of coach Dominic King and has gained his yellow belt.

He entered the Kyu grade section where he was fighting players up to brown belt and won all three of his fights to win the gold medal.

He then entered the Dan grade section where he had six fights against black belts and he won two of those. The Royal Navy also won gold in the team event.

Four younger members of the judo club travelled to Taverham for the Renkeido mini-mon competition and all four came away with medals. Yolander Walters won gold with bronzes going to Crystal Whitelock, Sarah Barron and Wilf Offord.

The results go some way to illustrate the range of players that Dominic King has at his judo clubs and almost anyone can benefit from practising the Olympic sport of judo.

Anyone wishing to take advantage of King's vast experience of judo at national and international level should contact him.

Fighting Fit Judo Club is open to all standards, ages, shapes and sizes and anyone wishing to join can visit the website www.FightingFitJudo.co.uk where they will find detailed information about the sessions he runs or email Dominic@FightingFitJudo.co.uk or alternately ring him on 07977 432756 or 01493 664089.
