The second half continued in very much the same fashion with Dereham not really seeing a great deal of the ball but we were scoring at a frequent rate with Boast getting a cracker from the edge of the box, and Jordan claiming a brace, then E Anderson got her second of the game, Boast then let fly but was denied by the crossbar but Baker was on hand to claim her fourth, obviously by this time the game was effectively over and the the championship was ours but credit to Dereham for never giving up, Final score Acle Utd 11 Dereham 0.

Overall a great squad performance not just in this game but every game this season and to win 16 from 16 in any league is a great achievement and thoroughly deserve our rewards for this season.

BLUNDESTON MAGPIES 5 Kirkley & Pakefield A 1 After last weeks shocking display several changes were made and the result was a lot more effort and all players put in a good shift. Both teams started brightly but with Chong and Jarvis bossing the midfield it didn’t take long for Magpies to score but the ref disallowed the goal for a foul. Kirkley then had a really good point blank shot saved by Hargreaves back after missing 6 games. Magpies continued to probe and got there reward when Crowe centred along the ground and Kirkley’s full back put the ball in his own goal. This made Magpies raise their game and 2 mins later from Crowe’s corner Delaney headed in at the far post. Magpies hadn’t finished and 3 mins later a slick flick on from Hopwood making his 1st appearance this season to Delaney who tapped in to double the score. A minute later a long clearance by Hargreaves was centred by Crowe to Hopwood who again put Delaney through to complete his hat trick and score Magpies 4th goal. In the second half Kirkley upped their game but couldn’t stop Crowe from running into the box and then chip the keeper Messi like. Magpies relaxed and allowed Kirkley to get a foothold in the game and they got their reward when they ran through the back four giving the keeper no chance. This was a very important win for Magpies and its hoped they can now move on and upwards in the league.

CAISTER COMMUNITY CENTRE played MK only a few weeks after losing 4-2 but this time came out and gave a class performance winning 3-1. The CCC started the game well and took the lead when Ross Vanden Ecker half volleyed a Michael Pitchers cross into the net. This settled the team and they on to score two more in the first half through Danny Heller after conceding a sloppy equaliser through a header at a corner. Danny’s first came after Ross laid the ball off to him and he ran at the defence beating a couple of players before slotting home. His 2nd goal was another fantastic individual goal with Danny again running at the home defence beating a couple of players before striking a shot that hit one post and then the other before crossing the line. The CCC therefore went in 3-1 at half time and put in a thoroughly good performance, in which defence had played a massive part being first to every ball and strong in every department. The 2nd half was very much a case of the CCC holding onto what they had, and they defended resolutely throughout the half. The closest MK came despite all their pressure was a clearance of the line by Zac Brown. The CCC still created some chances though with efforts from Danny and the very impressive Olly Wells narrowly missing. The CCC ended up winning the match 3-1 and special praise should go to Danny for his two delightful goals and the impressive midfield play of Berti and Olly who controlled the game, and keeper Chris Hollis who was alert throughout. The defence deserve the biggest mention though with very impressive 90 minutes the full backs Alex Armes and Michael played well, but it was the two centre backs Daniel Clark and Zac who impressed the most. Man of the match was Zac who immense throughout the match.

The CCC played Bohemians and ran out comfortable winners in the end 4-1, but did not have it all their own way in the early exchanges of the match. Despite a good result last week the CCC looked rocky early and were not moving the ball around to feet as they normally would which meant they created limited opportunities. The CCC took the lead through a sensational drive from Reece Heller from almost 40 yards to the left of the pitch which no keeper would have saved, after a free kick had broken down. It was with out doubt probably the goal of the season, and now you have to question with ability like that why he does not do it more often. Bohemians quickly equalised soon after to make the game 1-1 after some careless defending, but soon after Danny Heller rattled the post with a strike from distance. The CCC went in 1-1 at half time and after some home truths went out and put in a much improved second half. Ross Vanden Ecker but the CCC ahead when Zac Brown played a ball over the top and Ross like the poacher he is helped the ball over the keeper. Before his goal he was on the verge of being substituted for a quiet performance but the goal lifted him and he soon added a 2nd. Danny ran with the ball and flicked it over a defenders head before playing in Ross who half volleyed the ball home. He almost scored his hat trick when Danny squared the ball and Ross got on the end of it but put his effort to near the keeper. The CCC created several other opportunities with Olly Wells and Dean MacGregor going close before Alex Armes finished the scoring, after going on a Brazilian style run before slotting the ball past the keeper with his right foot. There were some great performances with Olly again putting in a strong performance as did Daniel Clark who was outstanding at the back, but man of the match was Reece Heller. He not only scored arguably the goal of the season, but was strong throughout, purposeful with the ball and his defending was top notch.

CAISTER RESERVES An improved Thorpe Rovers came to Allendale Road and contributed to a open and flowing game of football. Caister were looking to continue a run of 5 games unbeaten including a good 7-0 win last week against Newton Flotman in which Garrett Ward scored a hatrick on his return to the club.

This week Caister were without Lee Carter and Grant Johnson who had both been influential recently and Macca was again on first team duty therefore Caister’s changes included Docherty in midfield and A.Barts coming back from injury at left back.

After a nervous start Sam Johnson settled Caister down with another great goal to take his tally to 6 in 5 games. Sam cut in from the right wing to curl in a left footed shot into the far post leaving the Thorpe keeper no chance. Thorpe were spirited and had quality in forward areas and got a deserved equaliser from a headed goal from a driven free-kick.

The game was free flowing from end to end and Thorpe almost took the lead after 17 year old keeper Jordon Barrett had to save his own blushes after his misplaced clearance fell to a Thorpe stiker. Jordon scurried back to make an outstanding full stretch save to tip the long range effort onto the bar.

Again it was the forward players of Caister that settled the nerves when Glenn Hughes headed a tremendous towering header into the top of the net from an in swinging corner to give Caister a tight 2-1 lead at half time.

Early in the second half the ever dangerous Garrett Ward ran through free on goal after a good ball from the outstanding Kevin Jarvis in midfield. Ward was blatently pulled to the ground for a stone wall penalty. Glenn Hughes stepped up and dispatched the spot kick empathically. Caister looked comfortable for the majority of the match from there on creating a few good chances from wide areas however Thorpe did get a late second when Caister momentarily lost some disapline as the game came to a close with the light fading after the 4pm KO. Near the end Aaron Robson came on and looked to aggrevate a recent ankle injury we hope this is nothing serious an he can be back in contention soon to keep competition for places strong. CAISTER VETS had a walkover on Sunday as Beccles Caxton were unable to raise a side for their league fixture. Caister’s next match is on March 25 away to Martham. This is a 2.30pm kick-off. Meet at the Caister field at 1.15 or Martham at 1.45.

CATFIELD An excellent Mark Allen goal failed to raise the Cats who laboured against a good International side who played 60 minutes with 10 men, missing key players the Cats dominated the first half but never looked comfortable when International pushed forward, a late Eddy goal secured the Cats all three points but the Cats will have to improve this week when they meet HBU who have a number of ex Cats players in what should prove to be a interesting Wiltshire Cup semi final 2.30pm ko be at ground for 1.45 please. KINGS ARMS VETERANS After the disappointment of a semi final defeat and 8 call offs, Blondie did well to get a decent squad together for the trip to Kirkley, with special thanks to Karlos and Daisy, who between them hadn’t played for 4 years. We started off well below par and only stout defending by Irish and Karlos and a safe pair of hands from Solly kept us level. An out of sorts Stevie Smith eventually put us ahead as he usually does, with a trade mark run and finish after being set up by Wooly. We then settled and got our game together and 2 goals from Daisy saw us comfortably ahead at half time. The second half saw us continue to dominate and old six inch used his pace to pressurise a defender into an OG to put us 4 up. It was left to Ellie to score the goal of the game and see us win 5-1. This win puts us top and sets us up niceley for the run in.

MK UNITED RESERVES after a three week break entertained a resurgent Caister A and turned in an excellent performance to defeat our hard working opponents 5-1, we created several good chances before Steve Loades finally gave us the lead, Lee Hodgson then pulled off an excellent one handed save but could do nothing about Caister’s equaliser, we then picked up the pace and Shane Simpson swung in a right wing cross which evaded everybody and went in straight in to give us a 2-1 ht lead, the second half stayed fairly tight till a towering header from Jody Potter and two late strikes from sub Callum Ingram finally killed off caister in a game well refereed by Ryan Stanton.

STALHAM TOWN RESERVES League leaders Horsford Utd Reserves were the visitors for the late kick off on Saturday at Rivers Park. We beat them 3-0 earlier in the season en route to the CS Morley Cup final and we have 2 games in hand and have to play them away, so we knew we had to put last weeks defeat behind and get back on track. Without Tom Gilbert through injury, we welcomed Danny Duffield back into our team for the first time since October. We almost had the perfect start as Scott Charlton sent Ross Charlton racing clear, but unfortunately he blazed his effort over with only 30 seconds on the clock. Within 5 minutes Scott had a chance himself, but he fired his effort straight at the keeper. Jordan Barnard did have to be alert when he had to save with his feet from their only real effort on target. He then set another attack going as he threw the ball to Michael Green, who in turn sent Scott away to create a half chance for Ross, but his touch was a little heavy and the ball ran through to a relieved keeper. Just before half time Ollie Eastwood went on a great run and set up a chance for Ross that had the keeper beaten, but also the crossbar and somehow we went in goalless at half time. We took the lead on 50 minutes, when the Charlton brothers combined yet again. This time Ross’s great play and pass to Scott saw him turn brilliantly on the edge of the area, creating half a yard of space to finish superbly from 18 yards. Within 10 minutes it was 2-0 when a brilliantly worked free kick from Danny Duffield found Danny Camish free of his marker and he headed across goal for Ross to head home from 10 yards out. It should have been 3-0 in the 70th minute when Ross played a great ball for Ollie Bell to race through one on one with the keeper, but he blazed high and wide. The Marie Meale Photography Man of the Match, David Willis, epitomised the work ethic of the team as Horsford were kept at bay until the last 5 minutes when they got lucky with an easy chance to halve the deficit. Jamie Duffield then sent Ross clear, but he just over ran the ball and the chance was gone. This was the perfect response to last weeks Cup hangover and we totally deserved the 3 points, but should have made it more comfortable with the chances that we created.
