SENIOR instructor Tracy Pillar and some of the students from the Chinto Karate Group travelled to Ipswich to compete in the final competition of the year.

First on the mat was Louie Bateman, also a member of the Winners Fight Club. Louie earned himself a first place trophy once again after performing a black belt kata, sienchin.

He has been training with the group for just over a year and is only at level 7th kyu. Tracy commented: “Louie is an excellent student in class and has been attending numerous lessons a week. So far he has earned himself a trophy in every competition he has entered this year and already shows good promise.”

Ali Watson, another Winners student competed in the men's kata and performed his personal best in this section which took him all the way to first place.

Dominika Szoma fought in the girls' 3rd kyu and above category. Dominika's best fight of the day was against one of the more regular black belts at this competition and she took more of an attacking role, getting a well deserved third place.

Ayo Bile, who trains with the Great Yarmouth club, displayed focus and good control on the mat and listens well to instruction. Ayo finally landed himself a respectable second place position.

Megan Bromley who trains at the Greenacre School competed for the first time in the girls' kata section, Megan, who learned the kata seiryu only four weeks earlier, performed the kata to a high standard showing good breath control throughout and earned a first place trophy.
