PAULIUS Macivleuilius of Kingfisher ABC met G Curragh or Repton ABC on December 7 in Wandsworth London in a senior novice semi-final.

In the first round Curragh tried to close the ring down and then work in close to the head and body, with some success. However Macivleuilius scored well with straight, powerful punches from both hands. This caused Curragh to hold Macivleuilius, and for this he was warned by the referee.

The second round started like the first with Curragh again coming forward to work in close. But Macivleuilius' powerful, hard, straight punches made this hard work for Curragh and again he was forced to hold on.

In the third and final round Macivleuilius was told by his corner to put pressure on his opponent. He did to good effect with both boxers ready to stand and trade punches. Macivleuilius' strength was seen and halfway through the round a good combination had Curragh holding again with unsteady legs, and he did well not to go down.

Macivleuilius kept the pressure on right up to the final bell and was given the decision on points to take him through to the ABA senior novice final at the Festival Hall, Kirby-in- Ashfield, Nottingham on Sunday.

Alex Lee of Kingfisher ABC met K Lawrence in Harwich on December 5.

Lee lost on points to Lawrence. The first round Lee took the fight to Lawrence and landed some good straight punches. Second round Lawrence slowly put the pressure on Lee who had to back off and was not having so much success.

The last round Lawrence was well on top as Lee tried which enabled his opponent to force home more attacks and took the win on points.
