Kingfisher ABC entered two boxers into the Eastern Counties Novice Championship. First into the ring Nico Adams met S Peacock of Harlow ABC. Boxing at his best from the first bell Adams was soon down to business, landing good straight punches with both hands.

In the second round a bit over-confident Adams stood and traded punches with Peacock and was caught with some hard shots to the head.

However Adams soon realised his mistake and got back to his boxing with good effect. Into the final round Adams kept to his plan picking the Harlow boxer off with jabs and straight rights and following up with good bodyshots to give an excellent win and another good performance in his final bout of the season.

Kingfisher ABC’s Kiel Barber came up against Brentwood ABC boxer J Fuller, a short stocky boxer who came forward from the start swinging punches with both hands. Barber kept his cool and picked him off with good, crisp jabs and this proved to be the pattern for the rest of the bout. Barber kept on the move landing good punches with both hands and used his footwork to evade his opponent. However when he was caught on the ropes he was more than willing to trade punches with Fuller. Unruffled Barber kept to his gameplan and finished the bout as clear winner.

It was a great finish to the season with two Eastern Counties Novice titles for the club from two of its up-and-coming boxers.
