Lowestoft and Yarmouth returned home from their basement battle with Ilford Wanderers with a well-deserved 12-12 draw.
The visitors went in front when Waata Smith’s half break and offload put Lewis Fox in space and he sprinted under the posts to score his first try for the first team, with Tom Dare making it 7-0. Ilford hit back and were 12-7 ahead at the break after scoring two tries, one of which was converted but L&Y, who had been on a run of 15 straight defeats, weren’t finished.
They gradually started to get some good territory and possession and with just under five minutes to go a long miss-pass from Dare to Jordan Winney out in space led to the replacement back row sprinting to the line from 25 metres to level the scores, with the conversion attempt going wide.
Elsewhere, fellow strugglers West Norfolk lost 44-17 at Basildon while Southwold were beaten 15-8 at Stowmarket.
